nobody has EVER fallen asleep from doing strenuous focus on a boring imagination i refuse to believe it, counting sheep would keep me aweake and the key is to just let your imagination go crazymode adhdstyle so that your basically like its a dream and eventually it will be a dream, nobody dreams about counting sheep

this is false in my experience
ive been taking melatonin for a few months and i can sleep just fine without it provided im tired
ive also had better dreams and been able to remember them more consistently on melatonin but that might be because im getting better sleep in general and not directly because of 'tonin

the issue with melatonin is that you can very easily od on it which can cause hallucinations and nightmares
i remember one night i took two pills instead of one because i had lots of caffeine that day and wanted to sleep quickly. bad idea apparently because every time i shut my eyes i started thinking there was something in the room with me and got super paranoid, started seeing shapes in the darkness etc and didnt get any sleep all night

tldr melatonin is fine but only take one pill

The author shares their experience with melatonin, noting it helps them sleep well when tired and enhances dream recall. However, they warn about the risks of overdosing, which can lead to hallucinations and paranoia. They recount a negative experience after taking two pills instead of one, resulting in a night of fear and no sleep. In summary, melatonin can be beneficial, but it’s important to stick to the recommended dosage.
