There's a center-left coalition (Musk, RFK, Gabbard, etc.) that left the Democrat party and I wonder if they are gonna try to attract them back or if they're gonna do something different. My guess is that they'll try to abandon "woke" (I hate this word) and make themselves seem like a moderate party again

the concern comes from the immunity combined with p25 and his propensity to fire people who get in his way basically. he has a track record of consolidating power which tbh unless you're one of those schizos who unironically wants to live in a dictatorship/monarchy/some other retarded backwards authoritarian state, should be concerning. there is reason to believe trump will TRY to make himself more powerful and more centralized, and even if it's just 4 years of him, I have no doubt he's gonna try his best to smash as much shit as he can, which will leave the next president either:
- a democrat trying to pick up his mess
- an ineffective democrat who doesnt do shit
- an ineffective republican who doesnt do shit
- a republican trying to clean up his mess
- a republican who keeps maga going and doubles down on this weird isolationist nonsense
no matter what the outcome is, if he gets his way i think america is in for dark days with a few small gains, namely better control of the deficit assuming he doesn't blow a shitload of taxpayer money on the border wall or another similarly autistic pet project.
that said, it's hyperbole to say trump is gonna be outright authoritarian. the left needs to take a chill pill and get ready to fight the tidal wave of shit that's gonna come at them in legislation imo. weather the storm and wait for 4 years is what i say

I do think Trump will be a lot more effective at getting what he wants done this term, but I also think that keeping MAGA alive is basically dependent on him keeping his promises. The biggest check that I think he has is that his coalition kind of has two factions, the Heritage foundation folks like Carlson (who came up with p25) and the center-left former Democrats like Elon, Tulsi, RFK, I honestly could see this fracture after his last term if Vance turns out to be a wildcard
I'm actually rather curious on your perspective on the Democrats, since from my point of view they also seem to be a coalition of two cliques with some very clear tensions going on

Anyone who's skeptical about Trump actually doing anything good with his presidency should remember how TERRIFIED the dems were of him winning.
In the span of his campaign, they:
>threw him in jail so people on the fence would think "Trump is a crook, I'm voting for the other guy"
>shot at him ((((billionare))) invites him to play golf where no one else knows where he is; he is shot at during the event and the media gives it 0 attention)
>swapped out Biden for literally anyone else so Democrat voters who were on the fence would think "oh, thank God, I can shill this lady to people cause she doesn't have dementia"
The only reason they didn't rig it was cause they were terrified that it would cause riots and Democrat heads to roll.
I think they were right to fear that, but could have still smoothed it over with enough finesse.

Because of religious tendencies I will dogmatically declare that any income tax greater than 10% is theft and I will blindly support any tax cut whatsoever that goes over 10% (as long as there aren't any caveats of course)
Outside of that I think econonics have to be viewed in terms of incentives because you can end up creating cobra effects if you don't, for example I think I remember there was a Norwegian tax pssed for people who had a certain amount of money, but this caused those people to move out of the country and as a result Norway actually lost a significant amount of revenue
The biggest issue with the idea of "rich people paying their fair share" is that the money just goes to the government and ends up getting wasted, it never goes to the less fortunate in either scenario so you just end up creating more suffering and inconvenience
No.108801
Going off of incentives I think the bigger picture here is that you cannot punish people for making money, after all no one is going to start a business if they didn't get a reasonable reward for doing so, also when corporations become big enough it really becomes more about power than money (which is merely an instrument for the former) so I think it's better off to deal with an individual troublemaker corporation than it is to create a blanket tax for wealth (which consequentially disincentivizes competition against that corporation)

In the case of actual human voters who aren't lizard people it might be a (misguided) sense of disillusionment with the Democrats or they might have actually been brought around.
The reason I think Trump won and won by so much is that Republicans absolutely control the narrative on a lot of things because they basically just make shit up and then shout it as loud as they can, so that by the time the Dems (or more accurately the independent left) can put together #TheFacts it's already ingrained in the public conscience.
For example
>There's a border crisis!!! Millions of spics are entering the country and killing and raping people!!! They took err jobs!!!>This even doe violent crime is down>This even doe immigrant criminality is 60% lower than 2nd+-generation/"natives">This even doe the numbers are massively inflated by recaptures and other statistical trickeryand
>Trump had the BEST economy ever! I'm voting Trump for GAS PRICES!>This even though Trump's economy was basically indistinguishable from Obama's >This even though Trump basically failed to bring the economy back from COVID (according to GDP - I realize there are many more statistics that go into it but we whales had -2.2% GDP on Trump's final year in office)<But Biden was awful for the economy!>This even though Biden inherited not only COVID but Trump's economy>This even though gas prices now at the end of Biden's presidency have gone right back down to where they were beforeThe point is that Republicans spew so much shit a lot of people even on the left just accept the premise and don't stop to think "wait… Is this an exaggeration or is it just a straight up dogshit lie?" And in most cases it actually does end up being fundamentally a lie but the Republicans control the conversation so most people believe at least the premise of their arguments.

I honestly think Trump basically won on his personality. Most (granted not all of it) of his policy is dogshit and just outright unamerican but a large group of people like him because he triggers da libs and liberals are le weird because they associate with trannies and wear hair dye or something
He ran on being a strong man and not letting the world fuck with America (where fucking with us means perfectly normal trade and military relations) and won mainly on emotions.
