>>219604I don't *hate Indians* per se but I have had bad experiences with Indians. I've also had good experiences with Indians but it tends to be the case that they're the exception to the norm. Most Indians, especially the more conservative Hindu they are, are very cold and condescending to outsiders. This is less of an issue with Americanized Indians (usually, the younger they are and the less totally immersed in Indian culture they are, the less malicious they are.)
It goes the other way for Sikhs who I have glazed before and will continue glazing because every single interaction I've had with a Sikh has led me to conclude that they are, as a rule, chads. Their religion stipulates it.
>Warrior-monk philosophy >Defend the weak, innocent, oppressed, etc.>Practice altruism and kindnessI looked briefly into Sikhism and the basic gist of it is they see the human ego as being the root of evil and believe that life on Earth is a kind of hell, and that they basically need to kill their ego in order to become one with the universe. Kind of like force ghosts almost. They believe in God but it's kind of secondary to the belief and it's their loophole for being cool with every other religion, like they get along with Muslims and Christians because the way they see it every (monotheistic) religion is just a different way of describing God. They're pretty chill people and if you're ever hungry and poor go to a Sikh temple because they give anyone who walks in food for free.
Anyways there are cool Hindus too but they're kind of a rarity. I don't have any issues with Indians on like a racial level or anything but for fucks sake it's like they go out of their way to be the poorest possible ambassadors of their culture/people/whatever sometimes. I suppose it makes sense a lot of them are weird and bitter, especially the first genners, coming from a place where poverty is the norm and moving to a place where everyone hates or doesn't understand or makes fun of you. At the same time, Hinduism itself kind of compounds this, there's some interesting shit in Hinduism but by and large the majority interpretation of it is very hierarchical and conservative, and there's a lot of Indian ultranationalism among Hindus, including immigrants. I understand being proud of your country and putting your flag in your dashboard and shit but moving to a Western liberal country and expecting caste and nationalism to fly is like taking a piss in the middle of a restaurant and then wondering why you're getting trespassed. Hope to see Indians do better, but I don't think that'll ever happen until an alternate interpretation of Hinduism takes over, or India liberalizes and ideally redistributes because their stratification is bonkers bananas
