Being a member of aristocracy in the pre modern era meant you were the most honorable and moral while being a member of aristocracy in the post-heroic era means you are a vile thief (the senate in rome often purely enriched themselves, this is ancient) or a third worlder who works himself to death and this is where all of your suffering and longing comes from
