>>258044you're particularly correct. I personally feel that over the ofer the 50 years, or so, there's been a growing apathy to the family unit and one's responsibility to it, and I'm no saint here, aside from christmas and easter I rather just be a cheque in the mail. anyway, I think it all started with the two parents working household and latchkey kids, that's where screen addiction in the form of TV started, this also perpetuated a reliance on TV dinners and such things. this wasn't must help with the eventual normalisation of divorce and the destigmatisation of single parents homes in the years that followed. this kinda stuff, all though out of necessity due to the most war economic miracle starting to slow down, led to politicians putting a policies of economic growth over the the actual needs of the children. since GDP up looks better than wether lil timmy is neglected, that doesn't win votes.
to jump to the current days, and to keep it short, the multgenerational drive for profit to maintain the constantly worsening economy has led to the amoral pursuit of profit, the death of soulful parenting and a culture where it's acceptable for burnt out parents to let their children be raised by a tablet computer. I personally am not surprised tha most kids these days have smartphones for a brain. with the easy of access to technology, it was bound to happen.
