Well how do you think I can look at Saturn the planet of negativity being in the sign of Taurus the sign of youthful femininity (as in my case) and conclude that the native is forgiving, all-loving and simple?
The root symbolism of the planets extends to encompass everything that could possibly be thought of. Saturn being the planet of negativity thus stands for things such as critique, poverty, subordination, loss, decay, detachment, objectivity, realism, analysis, distrust, pessimis, endurance, stubbornness, alienation, workers etc. etc.

Saturn is the planet of limitations, restriction, structure, discipline, coldness, darkness, etc, and aspects to it, as well as transits, can make someone's life very challenging but it's not all evil because there are lessons to be learned from it, like a harsh teacher. The easiest way to understand why it is evil you need to understand the myth of Chronos, the greek counterpart of the Roman god Saturn. There is also associations with satanism because it rules capricorn, the goat, and co-rules aquarius, the rebel, also associated with satanism since Lucifer was the first rebel.

these two explanations sound kind of contradictory in some respects. it sounds like it represents both rigidity and clinging to tradition as in conservatives but its also apparently of workers, rebellion, critique, and transit, so it's... revolutionary? i guess it could be both, ive met some pretty hardheaded people in my camp but in order to be one of these things faithfully it cannot be the other, otherwise the principal trait of saturn would be hypocrisy, no? i didnt mean to ascribe politics to it but the parallels are there imo.

It is both. In traditional astrology Saturn rules both Capricorn and Aquarius, it was made to oppose the luminaries (Sun, which rules Leo, the opposite of Aquarius, and the Moon, which rules Cancer, the opposite of Capricorn).
