I'm seeing a lot of comments referring to the 75% figure. That's not from the study. That's from a study from about 8 years ago that found that decline in a region of Germany that u/Snarfums already summarized here. That study got a lot of headlines, but it got extrapolated in the news to being all insects were declining by 75%. In reality is was much more varied when that study spurred more work on the subject. Some insects were just plain understudied, others definitely were decreasing, and some were actually increasing in abundance, but the main issue here is repeating the idea that populations worldwide have declined by 75%. We're definitely concerned about actual declines as entomologists, but that 75% number has led to a lot of misconceptions.

I thereby say you retards are zoomers forever underage, and in case you're a millennial, you're a tripfag carrying the mindset of an underage newfag blogosphere-esque normalfag redditor comic rage wearing shirt cancer (which is now the ahegao hoodie). duuude I accidentally let something I thought was a fly at first into the house but it turned out to be a flying male ant. Did you know after they put sex onto the queens-to-be they lose their wings and die shortly after? This is kind of like an allegory for women after feminism or something. Ants really understand the life us incels lead.

I smashed a fly in my boss' house and it died pretty immediately and at first I felt a little bit bad and was like "sorry man" and then I saw that there were little beige rice-looking things at the spot where I smashed it and I think those may have been eggs or baby maggots or something and now I feel ultra bad because that's kind of like infanticide if that is indeed what those were. It's also deeply disgusting since I smashed it with my hand

>Bed bugs (Cimex lectularius) reproduce exclusively through a process known as traumatic insemination. Unlike most insects, the male does not introduce sperm into the female's genital tract. Instead, the male uses a sharp, syringe-like copulatory organ (aedeagus) to pierce the female's abdominal wall, injecting sperm directly into her body cavity (hemocoel). The sperm then migrate through the hemolymph (insect blood) to the ovaries. This process causes physical trauma and introduces infection risks, though females possess a specialized immune organ called the ectospermalge to help reduce tissue damage at the puncture site.
>Male bed bugs exhibit highly indiscriminate mating behavior and frequently attempt to pierce other males. Because males lack the protective ectospermalge structure found in females, these homosexual traumatic insemination attempts can cause severe, sometimes fatal abdominal injuries. To mitigate this risk, target males frequently release specific alarm pheromones to deter suitors.
>Bed bug populations possess an exceptionally high tolerance for inbreeding. Infestations are frequently established by a single fertilized female or a minimal number of closely related individuals. Due to a unique resilience against inbreeding depression, colonies can successfully multiply across successive generations of brother-sister or parent-offspring pairings without suffering genetic collapse or reduced reproductive fitness.
Why are they like this?
