hi i don't like speaking directly about myself because i feel like you're always gonna be biased one way or another but i like music, guns, boats, and fashion, and i think video games are unironically a legitimate art form. my interests include older technology including single use devices, military history, world cultures, the sciences in general but especially chemistry and psychology, and the arts although i personally can barely draw a stick figure, i moreso like to observe others doing it. I enjoy stories of moral decay and internal conflict and especially redemption. It's difficult to describe but I like it when a piece of media really explores how an event or condition affects those people affected by it. I like to explore psychology through art generally, such as in the work of Beksinski. I don't know what I would call that, if not psychology, but I don't subscribe to any particular "school of psychology". Sorry.

This is my favourite artwork by him, it represents death and his quest of travelling collecting souls. The baby holding him is a new life coming with death? for its a cycle.

But sometimes we are what we do and reflect. I'm not saying Beksinski was bad, Im just saying I wish he draw a different energy and vibe to him. I appreciate his works and admire the gifts nevertheless.
>>304945 Personally I don't think Beksinski's work is meant to be analyzed as much as it's meant to be felt. There's definitely a few recurring notifs, for example, the use of the color blue is believed to be in reference to the pigment left on the wall of gas chambers, reflecting how WWII touched his life, but I enjoy it because it's raw and surreal. I think it's interesting how the surreal can speak to us - or at least to me - more than the realistic. I've said before that I dislike cosmic horror in the vein of H.P. Lovecraft - I do enjoy Lovecraft, The Shadow Over Innsmouth is a favorite of mine, but I'm not a fan of the way the Cthulhu mythos was executed, where a lot of the horror supposedly comes from the indescribability of the actual horrific bit, it comes across as juvenile and amateur, like when a kid tries to write a creepypasta - but I think Beksinski's art, when interpreted pseudo-literally (like how in Silent Hill the events are both literal and a representation of the protag's internal struggles) they execute cosmic horror very very well. They depict a desolate world, not hostile, but apathetic and alien, operating on a completely surreal, but coherent, set of rules. That's one of my favorite angles in horror, I think his paintings really capture that on a primal level. I'd like to step into them and take a look around. Even his subject paintings find a way to scream at the viewer. It's the rawest visual portrayal of pain and sorrow I've ever seen. I kind of lost my focus halfway through writing this so sorry if it seems kinda rambly but the point is I like them.
