I got my first cat today and it's a three months old kitten
So far he seems to really like scratching the carpet instead of one of the two scratching posts
He isn't scared of me anymore

Does 'anty have any tips and general knowledge to share about cat cultivation?

According to some sources food should be always available while others say it'd be better to have set meal times.
How much does it matter?

when you're killing and butchering an animal and throwing them offcuts, it's best not to give them the fatty bit. it won't kill them but it will give them sloppy shits. lamb/mutton and pork are the worst for it.

I've never encountered the problem, but maybe lay a towel or blanket over them, cats, like white people, have terrible spacial awareness and memory.

that's all you can really do with cats. they're not like dogs, where they care about your property and feeling. if they want to do something they will. the affection they give is worth is though. the best way to predict a cat's wishes is like treating them like a psychotic anon's wishes, random and unpriceable, both uncaring but wholesome a same time.

this.
I've had over 40 dogs and like retard they'd chew electrical wires from time to time as puppies, but never a kitten.

He used the litterbox at his old place when I went to pick him up but he hasn't used the one I have here, yet.
I keep the door open to the restroom at all times where the litterbox is.
On a few occasions I've picked him up and placed in the box in attempt to show him where it is but I'm a bit uncertain if he'll actually go use the box when he actually needs to go
Is there anything else I could do at this point?

He's really sweet but while nuzzling he might randomly give a bite
That might be regular kitten behavior but I'll have to be careful and try to anticipate it while trying to enforce "bites = the pets and nuzzles stop"
The late night zoomies are insane as well

He's now also noticed his own reflection on the turned off television and is trying to square up to it, as seen in the 2nd picrel

Spraying the wires and bottoms of curtains with the bitter spray seemed to have worked but I'm still going to wrap them in spiral shielding as a extra layer of security

While I was typing this, he came up to me and jumped on my lap just after I had taken my cargo pants off for the day and got a scratch with blood on my thigh, but that's on me

The next things I'm going to attempt to work on is touching his paws when he's relaxed so attempting to cut his nails in the future wouldn't be as difficult and sometimes wiping him down with a wet piece of paper/cloth if he starts to stink - rewarded with treats shortly after, of course

I'm currently spending my last days of my overdue summer holiday and when that's over, I work from home, so being present isn't a problem.
No lonely cats in this household.

I'm not ruling out getting a second cat but that's still far in the future if anything.

How often do you cut the nails of your cats and is it difficult?
I'm down four chicken treats but I was able to cut all nails on both of his paws except those which grow, like, on the side above his paws, because I didn't know where to press in order to push them out.
>>396554
I can, but after today's session, it seems the best course of action is to let him get tired and wind down and give him scratches while slowly working his paws in between.

Good for you.
I want to have grooming a regular part of his routine.
Even though I was quite uncertain at first, cutting the nails wasn't too bad.
Giving him a proper bath is going to be really rough and I'll have to figure out how to go about it.
I resorted to warm and damp paper towels as he really doesn't like water.
In a perfect world, I could put him in a small tub and scrub him down, but no - need to figure out something else.

After seeing all your pictures, that's reassuring in a way.
My kitty is only three months old and I'm hoping the smell of pee is just kitten things, where he's still perfecting his own grooming and how to properly use the litterbox.

Personally, I think its a bit odd in the sense that the smell isn't present all the time.
Could being excited from playing or such cause a droplet to form in his genitalia? Dunno.
