I am an autistic Touhou fan.

A video that takes under 10 minutes takes more effort by the uploader while one 2 hours long lets the thousands of viewers go each through the effort of filtering what is relevant or not.
Certainly it is the latter that creates more brainrot.
But yes, reading can too be a waste of time. Most books written are pure garbage, and could be summarised into a page or two. That however would make the valuelessness of what the author presents too obvious to be bound into leather and displayed at book stores.
