Thinking of getting an AK at some point - I think they look cooler than ARs and I'll get plenty of experience with ARs anyway in the military, but right now, I'm wondering if anyone here is experienced with AKs - what are some things I should know? Is Century Arms good? I was gonna get a WASR, but if anyone knows any better models, definitely drop them in this thread. Are palm magazines (like the ones shown in the WASR-10 promo pics) good, or should I go for steel combloc mags? Does it matter? What tools should I get? Are there dedicated AK cleaning kits out there? Does wooden furniture have any problems unique to it, and are they significant enough to be worth springing for polymer instead?
>>291645 well yeah he has a poin- *gets a single drop of water on the glass, making his sights unusable*
for long guns an optic/rds is good, for pistol target acquisition its more about grips in my opinion i'm still trying to get a proper red dot and magnifier to go on my sg542 rifle. micro red dots on pistols are bulky and not required especially if concealed carrying (this isnt a thing in canada thoughbeit)
idk what bad habit could be formed by irons except maybe its easier to learn to shoot both eyes open with a red dot
>>291646 What he said is that you want to focus on the target and not the sight, the red dot allows you to do this easily with both eyes open but with irons you have to take the moment to line them up correctly, I trust what he says because he can quickdraw his gun and fire 6 shots into a small metal plate at like 25 yards and they all go perfectly in a vertical line
>>291647 If the shots go in a perfectly vertical line, does he have to side step to not get hit by the bullets falling back down or do they get stuck in the suspended 25 yards in the air metal target?
bump >>291607 >What are the pros and cons of having multiple tails as apposed to just one? fluffier oh btw thanks for all your help in this thread, i will be referencing it assuming it doesnt slide until at least like this time next year
dom leblanc said guns on the buyback (never gonna happen btw) from the 2 order in councils will be used in ukraine imagining the leaf government staling leafguns to let ukrainians go to war with gsg16 pea shooters
>>291655 that's ideal the swarthoids will all migrate from toronto and such into the usual places like california because they are chased out by the cold and we finally get access to a constitution and i pay less taxes i dont see how life under bad orange man could be worse in any way
Wew, new probably good but also over hyped mailbox just dropped. Why did 'lock suddenly decide the Trijicon RMR or Leupold standard for pistol cuts wasn't good enough again that they had to go and make their own propriety cut?
>>291667 >blah blah need 10 000 dollar gun safes >to store multiple of the exact same gun with the exact same configuration >muh rare 'dog dick purple' plastic magazine (could just put 3d printed purple plastic on a $20 factory new stamped steel magazine and nobody could tell the difference) i mean the safe is cool but the collection walkthrough is goofy
if we get simplified classification system with the new election in canada i would get a second x39 ak, long stroke gas piston, ~9" barrel i already have a ~22.5" machine gun barrel short stroke gas piston x39 ak >>291671 it's windows mima
>>291677 <be Russia >copy M4/M16/AR15 bullets with their own high velocity 5.45×39mm cartridge to have lighter ammo and longer sustained fire but sucks for suppression short barrels and wall penetration
<Be USA >copy AK47/AKM bullets with their own low velocity high barrier penetration 300BLK cartridge to basically have shorter barrel M4's that don't suck in exchange for sacrificing range and capacity Funny how this all goes full circle honestly.
>>291654 >imagining the leaf government staling leafguns to let ukrainians go to war with gsg16 pea shooters It would just be a waste of oil tanker fuel, the leaf government is probably just slowly breaking the ice to get their citizens used to their government sending actual military ordinance over to Ukraine in the future, this also benefits China of course too as they'd essentially be throwing away what little weaponry they actually have into a black pit war that will likely go on for decades between Russia and Ukraine, and besides the Ukrainians are already being backed by non meme countries with actual military industrial complexes like Germany and Turkey.
TL;DR it's a bullshit excuse they most certainly don't take seriously behind closed doors... Or those politicians are genuinely that fucking retarded and aren't actually in control of anything but are rather just the the public entertainment.
I don't think Pappa's old Ruger 10/22 varmint rifle is gonna do much to halt Chechen warlords, maybe you could hand them to elderly folks with arthritis but even then just ask Ruger to crank out another 6gorillion because they're just high quality pot metal guns for farmers and plinkers and the Brazilian knockoffs are even cheaper yet work just fine.
3rd pic unrelated, I was wondering if I had any 300BLK related images in my 4cuck /k/ folder, alas I didn't but this is neat looking.
>>291672 >Dusk cover QD rail I thought those were meme's that didn't hold zero very well, hence why India uses those because everything their army does is inherently fucking retarded and the only way they'd ever win a war against their adversaries is with human wave tactics which they have the population to do of course so I guess it doesn't matter if their poorly mounted optics can't hit the broad side of a barn. There's a reason why more sensible AK queens use those side receiver mounted rails instead.
>>291643 >>291673 Wholesome Momiji, to bad Drumpfs tariff war will ironically help Justin Trudeau's dead nigger of a minority party crawl it's way out of being a irrelevant due to Leaflands own reawakened populism.
Hegelian dialectics has some funny consequences. I'm sorry Trump indirectly made Leafland retarded again and gave President Little Havana more undeserved time in office.
>>291679 more like <be Russia >know that hit probability of their drunk conscripts is basically negligible >ration metals by making gimped underpowered cartridge
<Be USA >cope for YEARS that your pea shooter is adequate for sadistically poking as many holes as possible in sandfarmers from 300 meters for maximum suffering >war in europe looks increasingly likely and realize they might actually have to fight white people soon >they tool up for a competent power cartridge immediately
>>291681 >Dusk cover QD rail >I thought those were meme's that didn't hold zero very well, yes they suck and look horrible bbut it's just a peice of sheetmetal that can be replaced aftermarket for the price of a big mac
>>291685 >>cope for YEARS that your pea shooter is adequate for sadistically poking as many holes as possible in sandfarmers from 300 meters for maximum suffering >they might actually have to fight white people soon >>they tool up for a competent power cartridge immediately Errrrm okay.... But wouldn't it make more sense to just slowly start arming US soldiers deployed in Ramstein Germany with AR10 rifles chambered in 6.5 creedmoor instead of relying on a cartridge that was developed for very niche scenario's and or whatever the fuck our meme contract gun (the MCX Spear) with Sig Sauer 100% Made in the US of A's (With imported cast metal Indian components)
Meanwhile Norway is still rocking their old Cold War era G3's with slight quality of life upgrades like Spuhr furniture because the rifles work just fine and will probably continue to do so for decades and Tree Ol Hate/308 is just fine at killing people.
On a side note ironically 300BLK is actually quite the popular hog/boar hunt cartridge apparently especially down in Texas where they're considered an invasive species, makes sense since those things have thick skin.
>>291686 >It's okay to produce useless and pointless junk because you can just swap them out for a normal dusk cover that won't get in the way of a serious optics mounting solution No it's not, it's a part of the gun that's made to be as thin and cheap as possible. This is the same reason you don't typically see optics mounted to FAL's either even less so because at least with the AK the lower receiver metal is thick enough especially ones made from billet steel as apposed to sheet metal.
Producing trash for the sake of producing trash is le bad, that's why I despise Samsung phones which actually used to be alright and had an unlockable boot loaders and easily removable batteries and sheit as apposed to now since your expected to just throw them out after 3 years, even if your battery is still healthy somehow with all their bloatware constantly draining it they don't bother releasing major security updates leaving your vulnerable to all sorts of spooky shit, even Cr-Apple does to support their older devices and they'd absolutely would love you buying a slightly upgraded phone every 3 years, hell even every 1 year even and that says a LOT about Samsung, this is why I prefer SK Hynix SSD's and RAM instead for my go to Worst Korean manufactured PC hardware funnily enough....
But now I'm going into a completely unrelated unhinged rant so I'll end it there.
But yeah AK dust covers are to wobbly hence why Russia would just hand out Dragunovs to anyone actually capable of aiming back then/now.
>>291684 >>291687 I wish we got more than just a short OVA series, this is a tragedy to the LGBTQ+ community.
>>291688 ye when it comes to fighting rifles then if you are having 18+ inch barrel then 308 is THE round if you are having <16" barrel then x39 is THE round if you are giving kickbacks to your cronies then whatever the US military does is THE round
>>291689 some npz optics mount really high so maybe you can slap a QD larp lazer or flashlight on the fugly rail on top or something npz optics are offset and high because AK isn't accurate anyway and the clearance is needed because the extractor can shoot the cases directly upward i reckon
>>291696 >Is it? Yes >What gives it away? Sights that make no sense, sling loop that's welded flat meaning that cheap looking sling is just floating in space, the dust cover and how it interfaces with the rear sight and leaves a giant gap uncovered under said sight to meaning you'd be getting more gas in your face. Also the top qd rail over the gas/piston is all kinds of fucked up along with that whole handguard in general.
>>291679 >furry pic >standardized accessories what does this even mean anyway i tried to remove the BS and i mentioned that x39 performs better out of shorter barrels only because everyone seems to love running very short AR barrels even though 20" is fine
Why use a gun if your gonna kill someone just use poison and you can get away and the person doesnt even know their dead until its too late or just run em over with a car? Unless you need to directly defend yourself.
>>291711 Basically I only want the AK for home defense and for fun and for the alunya cosplay that is definitely happening >poison dogshitnuke, coroner will be able to identify it and the type of poison becomes a major indicator of my guilt >just run em over with a car Everybody who I would theoretically want to murder has a limousine or private plane or some such nonsense. Also running someone over is really unreliable and messy even if it does work. it's just about the worst way to murder someone tbh
Anyone else here ever just catch themselves having spent hours lurking Arisaka defense's website and dreaming up autistic light and IR laser configurations you'll likely never actually need? Happened to me even though I originally just wanted to look at AD momentary tail caps.
>>291716 I think too many attachments can look very garish and overly operator-y, im of the belief you don't need nothin but a good optic, preferably an ACOG. also >lasers Aren't lasers more of a liability than anything? You can't even see them and the minute the enemy flips on his nogs you have a Minecraft beacon coming from your barrel >>291717
>>291718 imo lasers are good when running magnification optics so you can do point shooting in cqc [larperator warning alarm] i run my long barrel ak with a lazer because i have PSO1 on it making it fairly unweildy to shoulder fire with sight picture in tight corners im not really planning on getting in a shootout against someone with nods tho
>>390801 Is this Polish AK built/exported by Pioneer Arms? I remember reading that those things are poorly made unless they've had a redemption ark I'm unaware of.
>>390806 Just make sure you do your research, the Polish make great AK's (for themselves mostly) but have a reputation for exporting mostly garbage.
Granted with ammo prices being what they are nowadays you'll probably never shoot enough in one of those to the point of it being dangerous BUT under normal times... Fuck it, get an AK from Kel-tec if they ever make one then.
