i decided to go on the older websites like somethingawful gaiaonline and the main difference between older websites and nusites is that most of the newer websites are just a noise trying to grab your attention with 0 sincerity. even larger image boards suffer this issue when you have 900+ people replying to one thing that gets lost in a sea of noise. Xitter cuckbook /pol/ shiddit are so large that 90% of the time shit gets drowned out by all the noise. speaking on shitter most of the off "memesites" that were precursors to vine and tiktack like 9gag funnyjunk and ifunny are still encapsuled by its overall cultral grasp. tl;dr websites got too big where theres nothing but noise
solution: start your own website, grow it into something comfy and community based, spend a bit on it to make it a professional thing (real servers, moderation, hire a friend or something to write updates if you want) and just don't sell out. shut it down or sell it when it gets too corporate.
I'm of the opinion that there's lots to be done now that social media quality has gone down so much. Be aggressive, see how much market share you can steal. Don't like ads on youtube? only let advertisers use banner ads on your site. Problem solved. You get a bit of ad revenue as well as payout, the UX is better, and everybody is happy. plus banner ads are oldkino.
>>405785 theres a wierd hedgehog dilemma like paradox where everyone wants to go to the site with all the people but its shit because theres all the people.
