I have came up with a perfect analogy for why tranime humor is such an abysmal pile of crap. Here it is lets say we are watching shatmaan kang and some random character like ray or the stilyaga says something mildly amusing like "I actually never visited an aquapark before" or something mundane like that and everyone in the room goes "HUH?!" "WHA~?!" as if they saw an alien gegnuenisgeg or second coming of the J-man. "I used to skip algebra in high school" and the entire vicinity is utterly shocked. And you are expected to have a sensible chuckle from that, or at least a wholesome reddit smirk like it has any comedic value.
Doe there was at least one funny joke but it's very western, like it would fit in seth macfarlane guy or the yellow donut guy. Also it had taoists with an army of jiangshi and they mentioned the Yuan dinasty which is cool. There also should have been ziggers portrayed as tall blonde blue-eyed hyperboreans.

True. If the result of something absurd and funny happening is a character overreacting it's lowbrow retard slop. Having a 'straight man' character is actually bad. Proper absurd humour doesn't need to point itself out.
