The Soviet Union had a projects in the works to ethically produce human meat for this exact purpose, in an equal society the proletariat gives and takes. They didn't have the technology we have now, where you can take someone to a lab and cut off a microlayer of their skin and grow a fat cut of meat from the cells, so they did the next best and most ethical thing, they built a device called the "People's Ethical Conveyor Belt with a Meat Grinder at the End".
