I think it's unfair to attribute porn consumption, especially to harmful degrees, to "feminism", as if feminism itself is a singular monolithic idea. I think you'd find it interesting to learn that many, particularly economically leftist, interpretations of feminism view pornography, even independently-produced pornography, in a rather negative light; their general assertion is that the very idea that pornography is in any way liberating is essentially a lie meant to whitewash pornography as an industry into something that "allows women to make independent careers using the blessings of womanhood" or something, thereby supposedly defying the patriarchy. What these interpretations of feminism purport is that pornography is inextricably linked to the exploitation of the female (and in some cases, male, but overwhelmingly female) body, the perpetuation of, and over time, heightening of, societally corrosive beauty standards, and the exploitation of male (or, more generally, audience) loneliness and alienation in order to uphold a market which is ultimately parasitic, as it exchanges capital, either directly or through advertisement, for functionally nothing; feelings in the consumer's brain.

You may not agree with everything said therein, nor with my ultimate point that it's unfair to flatten "feminism" into specifically feminism as practiced (and arguably, at this point, entirely commodified and repackaged) under the levers of capitalism, specifically in the western world. I am not asking you to, I'd be a hypocrite myself if I fully subscribed to such a way of thinking, but it's food for thought. You could say it is fair to flatten the term because it's the form of feminism which is most relevant to us, given we live in the USA and Canada respectively, but I'd still say that underrepresents the broader idea of feminism and the fact that it takes many forms. It's not all that important regardless.

While true, I think this is also a bit reductionist given how much more prominent porn is in broader society than even twenty years ago. I've been on this rant before so, the condensed version: Big tech did it. It's a problem. Gooners are bad for society. Part of the blame can also be laid at the feet of the LGBTQ+ community given how often sexuality acceptance and kink culture overlap, but the intentional proliferation of pornography addiction in order to exploit the atomization of society, and kink culture bleeding into an already subcultural space, are separate things, and one is obviously far more malicious and far-reaching than the other. All that to say, pornography addiction may well be one of the defining issues of our time, even if it isn't strictly top of the pile.

The underlying principle is that sexualization is bad to the extent that it takes advantage of somebody or another, be it the worker or the consumer. Sexualization is not bad, porn is. That's why I drew a line when canadian mima attributed it to sexual liberation. Women sexualizing themselves outside of a commercial context is not bad. You could argue it preys on the male sex drive, which, maybe, but at that point, we're getting very granular and venturing outside the scope of power structures, which is what theory like this is meant to address. Bear in mind, I'm talking about "self-sexualization", meaning, women wearing pretty dresses at the club, to self-produced and specifically freely distributed pornographic content. There's legitimately nothing wrong with the former, at least, nothing wrong enough that it merits restricting the behavior itself, as again you could argue it is in a way predatory, but that's again applying theory to basic human courtship, and as far as ethically produced and distributed porn goes, I'd still argue, hypocritically once again, that even the most ethical porn is ultimately harmful to society at large to the degree that it perpetuates loneliness and the pipeline that eventually leads to capital and/or attention extraction from less ethical pornographic practices and markets, but I think people are going to make porn as long as they have access to a camera, and will consume it as long as they have a sex drive, so decommodification of porn as an industry is the best-case scenario.
